I was raised in a navy family so I'm adaptable, independent & I like a tightly run ship. I learned to teach in Baltimore, Maryland & taught there for seven years before moving to Portland in 2003. My whole family lives on the east coast. I was just going to try Portland for a couple of years. I met my husband (Benson class of '94), we have two gorgeous daughters & I'm never going back to the east coast.
I love teaching at Benson because students can get an academic & real-world education under the same roof. That's why I am so excited about Tech-Geometry, I feel this is how math should be - relatable!
In my copious amounts of free time I enjoy sewing, knitting & biking my kids around.
I was born and raised in North Portland, growing up as the middle child in a family of five. While in grade school, I attended many Tech shows and knew Benson was the high school for me. I graduated in 1975, majoring in electric. My Benson education introduced me to a rewarding 20 year career as an electrician. Caring and wonderful Benson teachers helped guide me. I always wanted to give back by teaching at Benson. This is my 20th year of teaching and I love it. I have a wonderful wife and two great kids who are 25 and 22 years old. We like to sail, cycle, backpack and fish.
Tech Geometry is a class I truly believe will help students understand math concepts.
